This Big Five coin is the first Gold bullion offering from South Africa since the Krugerrand was introduced in 1967. This is the first in this series, with a new one released every five years.


Coin Highlights:

  • Contains 1 oz of Gold.
  • Multiples of 10 are contained in mint tubes. All other coins are kept in protective packaging.
  • Obverse: Features a close-up of the elephant with its ears flared and trunk and tusks being the dominant feature. The words "South Africa" and "Big Five 2022" as well as the coat of arms are included.
  • Reverse: Depicts two halves of the face of an elephant.
  • Minted by the South African Mint.
