Mighty and powerful yet peaceful and wise, no other figure has captivated and endured on the coins of a nation for so long. Britannia first appeared on Roman coins almost 2,000 years ago and her reassuring presence still appears today.


The design selected for the Britannia of 2014 was created by Jody Clark, a talented Royal Mint engraver. The reverse design uses the globe as a backdrop and the shield and trident are placed at her side. The lion is at Britannia's feet with its tail curled around her. Coin comes in a coin capsule
